Wedding – George Weir Barn – Lloyd Harbor, NY
East Coast Soul Wedding Performance at George Weir Barn
East Coast Soul is always thrilled when a close friend of our band asks us to perform for their big day. We were invited to perform in Lloyd Neck, NY at the for the beautiful, rustic George Weir Barn wedding of Andrew and Daniele. These two dear friends of our drummer, Sean Davies, planned their wedding for October of 2014. Because of the couple's long relationship with one of East Coast Soul's full time members, they'd seen us in action numerous time. It was humbling to learn that, when they decided to have a band at their wedding, East Coast Soul was their first choice. We were also excited to share our performance with so many dear friends and family members.
This was our first time performing at a George Weir Barn wedding. We always look forward to working with a new location, especially given the amazing area. Part of our planning process involves outlining exactly what portions of the wedding East Coast Soul will be involved with. For this wedding in particular, we were asked provide ceremony music. As is often the case, we recommended our Ace guitarist, Ed Ricco. Because of the rainy conditions, their ceremony was held inside the charming, rustic George Weir Barn. Ed Ricco provided 30 minutes of “pre-ceremony” music as guests arrived. When the ceremony itself began, we provided specially requested music for the processional, bride’s entrance, and recessional.
In a majority of weddings, East Coast Soul is asked to provide MC services for the program portions of the evening. However, for this wedding in particular, a close family member of the groom was serving as an energetic MC. With introductions complete, we moved immediately into the couple’s first dance. This was followed by the mother/groom dance where we performed My Girl by the Temptations. When we finished this portion of the evening, the guests and band broke for dinner. After the break, East Coast Soul returned and delivered a high-energy, non-stop performance until the party closed down. Thanks so much to Andrew and Daniele for having us at their beautiful wedding!
"When my wife and I got married, we focused on the three things we felt make a wedding memorable: an open bar, good food and live music. Open bar and good food is pretty easy fare for New York, but as you do your research you'll find that the wedding bands here are typically either a.) pretty good but overpriced or b.) reasonably priced and dreadful. Enter Empire State Soul. Not only was the price point terrific, but the band is phenomenal. Just how good are they? We were married two years ago and we STILL have guests bringing up the band whenever we run into them. The band puts on a show that needs to be seen to be believed and will be remembered long after the night is over. On the other side of the coin, they were literally the easiest vendors of the night. They got there early, emceed the entire event, and kept everybody involved for the entire affair. From three years old to ninety, everybody was on the floor and having a great time. Of the close to twenty different vendors we had at our wedding, Empire State Soul won MVP of the night and is easily the most requested phone number we've had since. Book them! You won't be disappointed."
